of technology transfer, intellectual property management,
research funding, contract negotiation and general business
and research administration. Has worked at all levels with
industry, commerce and academia both nationally and internationally,
to establish support and develop high quality deliverables
within given time-scales. A professional and flexible communicator,
entrepreneur and innovator with proven skills in strategic
planning, marketing, project management, research and business
administration.
- Originally appointed to manage the University's relationships
with industry, commerce and principal government research
funding bodies.
- Since 1998 responsible for establishing the University’s
licensing and spin-out business activities and IP portfolio

of the University

- SMART Awards - several awards at feasibility level
- Small firms Loan Guarantee funding 2 x £100k ea.
- 4 government sponsored technology transfer schemes budget
circa £2.4m.
- The University's Intellectual Property Steering Group
- Seconded as secretary to a national committee as part of
the government's research benchmarking exercise - the Research
Assessment Exercise.
- Company Secretary and Directorships. Exoscience Limited,
Solion Limited, Engineering Surfaces Limited, Hovaboard Limited,
BIOX Systems Limited.
- Liaison Manager, Community Industry (1986 –9) Devising
and securing community support and financial backing for employment
and training programmes in the greater London area. Providing
advice for the establishment of community based businesses.
Established a number of high profile projects including collaborations
with Business in the Community to develop the "Crown
and Leek Community Workshops" opened by Prince Charles
in 1989.
- Partner in "Swifts" (1983-6) Established this
start-up catering business with two graduate friends. Catered
to the “Business Lunch” market in the City of
London. Involved in all aspects of business development including
product and service development, marketing and business planning
and financing a rapidly growing. Negotiated sale of business.
